Dillonvale Post donates $100 to police for body cameras
DILLONVALE — On Aug. 23, Dillonvale American Legion McCook Post #529 Commander Michelle Hedgecoke presented Chief Brian Driscoll of Dillonvale’s Police Department with a check for $100 toward body cameras.
Curtis Prince of Dillonvale’s town council approached the American Legion and other groups in the area in May 2017 with a request for the donations. The police department was looking into purchasing body cameras. Each camera would cost about $185. The American Legion members voted to give $100 toward their endeavor.
With summer coming to an end, the town council put together a “thank you” BBQ for all their employees during the weekly “music in the park.” Prince contacted Hedgecoke and set up the meeting. Driscoll was surprised and happy for this gesture. He said he’s been trying to get his officers into some training. The money would help with balancing cost of equipment and training.
The music was great. The food delicious. And friends everywhere made for a wonderful night, Hedgecoke noted.
