Webber: 50th wedding anniversary
PORTLAND, OR. – Dr. and Mrs. John D. Webber will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 10. They were married June 10, 1961 at St. Anthony’s Church in Bridgeport.
Webber is a 1957 graduate of Jefferson High School in Portland. His wife, the former Carla Drumm, graduated from St. John’s High School in Bellaire.
The couple met in New York City where he was studying pre-med at Columbia Univeristy and Carla was attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and later became a Radio City Music Hall Rockette.
After Webber graduated from Columbia University, the couple married and moved to Portland where he completed his medical degree from Oregon Health Science University. Following graduation from medical school, the couple moved to Minneapolis where Webber completed his residency at Henepin County. They then returned to Portland for his surgical residency at Emanual Hospital.
Webber then left for Korea to serve as a major in the United States military. His wife remained behind and ran the Portland Gymnastics Center and Carla Webber Studio of Dance.
Upon his returned, the couple settled in Portland where Webber began his surgical career with the Portland Surgical Center and his wife continued to run the dance and gymnastics studio.
They are parents of four children, Jennifer Kennan, Sherri Atwood, Creslynn Morris and David Webber, all of the greater Portland area. They also have eight grandchildren: Meliss and Rachael Keenan, Claire and Mitchell Atwood, Natalie and Lilly Morris and Audrey and Eliza Webber.
They enjoy travel and world culture having spent time in 32 counties and will celebrate their anniversary with a weekend getaway in Oregon with their family.
