WILSON: 50th wedding anniversary

AKRON – Dr. James E. and Mary Kay Wilson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 20. They were united in marriage on July 20, 1963 in St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Paul W. O Heist officiating.

Parents of the couple are the late Earl and Helen Wilson (Bartlow) of Shadyside and the late Lawrence R. and Mary Elbert of Martins Ferry and Colerain.

Dr. Wilson is a graduate of Shadyside High School and received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati. He is retired from Akron City (Summa) Hospital where he was chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine.

His wife, Mary Kay, is a graduate of Martins Ferry High School and of the Ruth Brant School of Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse by Martins Ferry Hospital, prior to her marriage. Together they are active members of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron and are volunteers at Open M (the only free medical clinic in Akron). Mary Kay also volunteers transferring certain books of the Bible into Braille to be sent around the world.

They have two children: Jackie (Tom) Brennan of Copley, and Dr. James R. (Tami) Wilson of North Canton, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Ryan, Sarah, Christopher and Daniel Brennan, and Miah, Coen and Evan Wilson.

A special day will be spent with their family.
