AKERS: 50th wedding anniversary
WHEELING – Larry and Jeanette Akers celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 3. They were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church with the late Rudolph Bischoff officiating the ceremony.
Akers is the son of the late Melvin “Doc” and Ruth Akers. He is a graduate of Martins Ferry High School and is a four year veteran of the Marine Corps. He retired as manager of Moore’s Lumber Company and The Wheeling Job Service as a Disabled Veterans Representative.
His wife, Jeanette, is the daughter of the late John and Jeanette Marshlenski. She is a graduate of Wheeling High School and worked in the office of Bloch Brothers Tobacco Company.
They are the parents of one son, Brian, and his wife, Venus, and have five grandchildren.
