Dr. Emily Frances Rine and Dr. Kevin Raymond Boyce Butler were united in marriage Saturday, July 2 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Wheeling with the Rev. Ronald Anton, S.J., and the Rev. James O’Brien, S.J., officiating the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Sue Ellen Miller of Bridgeport. The groom is the son of Dr. Leon and Shamyune Slonim and the late Dennis Butler, formerly of Ajax, Ontario.
Stacy Connell was maid of honor, and Patrick McDaniel served as best man. Other attendants were Veena Chokkavelu, Laura Cordery, Maureen Matarese, Shayna Slonim, Chris Edwards, Will Enck, Warren Flood, George Pfaff, Duncan Ganpaul and Alina, Zosha and Arianna Muroski.
A reception was held at Banquet View Ballrooms, Wilson Lodge at Oglebay Park in Wheeling.
The bride is 1997 graduate of The Linsly School, a 2001 graduate of Boston College with a bachelor’s degree in linguistics and German studies, a 2004 graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University, with a master’s degree in applied linguistics and a 2009 graduate of Penn State University with a doctorate in applied linguistics. She is employed as an instructor in the American English Institute and department of linguistics at the University of Oregon.
The groom is a 1995 graduate of Ajax High School, a 1999 graduate of Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, a 2003 graduate of Columbia University with a master’s degree in electrical engineering and a 2010 graduate of Penn State University with a doctorate in computer science and engineering. He is employed as an assistant professor in the department of computer and information science at the University of Oregon.
After a wedding trip to Maui and Hawaii, the couple will reside in Eugene, Ore.
