Riverhouse Beads, Bags opens doors

MOUNDSVILLE – Consumers are always on the hunt for that unique, one-of-a-kind gift. They are also looking for a good price on that gift.

Nancy O’Donnell believes she can offer both under one roof and has been doing so for the last year at her shop at 1200 Thompson Ave. in Moundsville.

O’Donnell has been working to craft unique, beaded jewelry for the last three years, but in 2010 decided to make a career out of it by opening the Riverhouse Beads and Bags store inside her home.

Riverhouse has a large variety of custom created jewelry, all pieced together by O’Donnell. There are pre-made pieces, but O’Donnell is able to craft the necklaces, bracelets and or earrings to meet her customers’ needs and tastes.

And there is no plastic or fake jewelry in O’Donnell’s creations.

She only uses natural gemstones, freshwater pearls and Swarvoski crystals.

As O’Donnell explained that although she’s using genuine gemstones, her products are very affordable.

”I’ll have people come in for weddings and proms, or just when they are looking for that perfect gift,” she said. ”It’s always a little slow after Christmas, but with the weather breaking, it’s starting to pick up.”

Now that temperature is rising, people aren’t as inclined to be draped in heavy coats and long sleeves.

And when skin is visible, people will look for ways to add decorative pieces to their wardrobe.

But O’Donnell has other ways for her customers to accessorize in the form of Miche bags.

Trendy in their styling, Miche bags allow their owners to change up their look without having to buy another bag.

That’s because Miche handbags have interchangeable outer shells.

And O’Donnell can craft an entire set of jewelry to match any bag that you’ve purchased.

Not nearly as stylish yet equally as beneficial, O’Donnell can also work wonders in the jewelry repair department.

She can repair all wire jewelry and the price for the repair will vary depending on the cost of materials.

Since O’Donnell’s shop is in her home, her hours can be as varied as her customers’ needs. Just give her a call at (304) 639-6685 or email her at iris460@aol.com

”My hours are at your convenience,” O’Donnell said. ”Just give me a call and I can open up, and you can come on in.”

That system works for both her customers and for O’Donnell herself. More than just a hobby, O’Donnell loves crafting brilliant pieces from the gemstones she collects and purchases. But she wants to maintain that loving relationship.

”If you have to answer to a hobby all of the time, it becomes more like a job than something you love,” she said.

O’Donnell will be hosting an open house at her shop from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on April 22 and 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on April 23. There will be a 10 percent discount on all regularly priced jewelry during the open house.
