Bill’s Towing expanding to site in Fox Commerce Park

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The newest tenant in Belmont County’s Fox Commerce Park is expected to open for business later this year, bringing expanded services from a growing local company.

On Wednesday Sue Douglass, executive director of the Belmont County Department of Development/Community Improvement Corporation, announced that Bill’s Towing will be purchasing lots 26 and 27 in Fox Commerce Park.

County officials signed a purchase agreement with Bill’s Towing which will allow the business to secure the needed funding to move the expansion forward.

Bill’s Towing has operated its towing and auto repair business for years locally and currently has locations in Bridgeport, St. Clairsville and Bellaire. Those locations will continue to operate, while the new site on the 5-acre parcel in Fox Commerce Park will be utilized as a repair service for trucks and larger vehicles.

Owner Bill Coulson and sons Chad and Ty were on hand during Wednesday’s meeting of the Belmont County Commissioners when the announcement was made. Coulson said he hoped to open the new location before the end of the year.

The opening of the heavy truck repair and service facility will bring an additional six to eight jobs with it, Coulson noted.

“Signing this purchase agreement will allow them to move ahead with their financing and formal deed transfer,” said Richard Myser, attorney representing the Belmont County DOD/CIC, which handles property matters within the Fox Commerce Park and operates as an economic development engine in the county.

“The CIC is pleased to bring this business to Belmont County,” said Douglass. “We continue to work with incoming businesses, but the backbone of businesses in the county continues to be those that are growing and expanding.”

Bill’s Towing is a prime example of this, county leaders said.

Douglass added that the county’s latest unemployment rate recently fell from 8.5 percent earlier this summer to 7.5 percent. Belmont County is the only local county with a single-digit unemployment rate, Douglass noted.

“It shows we’re doing something right in Belmont County,” she said.
