Crowds flocking to hhgregg
ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The Ohio Valley Mall welcomed its newest business Thursday when hhgregg held the official grand opening of its new St. Clairsville location.
The business opened its doors to an excited crowd. The new hhgregg store is located at 67661 Mall Road in the former Kroger building, now newly renovated to hold the appliance dealership’s wares.
To celebrate the grand opening and to help area residents get a jump on holiday shopping, the new St. Clairsville location was scheduled be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. During this time, the store held a grand opening sale on a wide selection of televisions, appliances and electronics.
“Ohio is a very important state for hhgregg and a key part of our Midwest expansion,” said Jeff Pearson, senior vice president of marketing. “We are pleased to continue expanding our presence there and to offer residents great deals on appliances and electronics, making their holiday shopping easier and more affordable during this hectic time of year.”
Each hhgregg location features more than 100 digital televisions, has more than 500 major appliances in stock every day and is staffed by more than 50 local residents who receive a comprehensive new-hire training and ongoing product training each year.
The store also brings an influx of local jobs.
“Everybody we have hired is from the Ohio Valley area,” said Todd Young, manager. “All of our employees are local.”
Young said that the public would find a considerable selection under one roof.
“We thought it was an area that needed a store like ours,” he said. “There’s not much competition in this area and we could take a lot of the market.
“Nobody has our selection,” he said. He added that the store’s primary focus is on providing quality customer service. Their brand promise is “We Help.”
“The biggest thing that sets us apart from competitors is the customer service,” he said, adding that their competitive prices are also a draw. “We have a price match policy. We’ll match anybody.”
The store intends to keep a brisk business through the holidays and beyond.
“We definitely expect to see a lot of customer traffic throughout our store,” Young said. “We’re just really excited about being here.”
He added that the area has been welcoming and business-friendly.
“Everybody was very accommodating,” he said. “We’re very excited to be in the Ohio Valley Market and we look forward to taking care of each customer that walks into our building.”
The Indianapolis-based hhgregg now has 32 locations in the Buckeye State. It operates 208 stores in Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
