OVHS&E board of directors names Caruso as hospitals’ president, CEO

WHEELING Matthew Thomas, chairman of the Ohio Valley Health Services & Education Corporation Board of Directors, has announced Michael J. Caruso will assume the role as president and chief executive officer for OVHS&E, parent company of Ohio Valley Medical Center and East Ohio Regional Hospital, as of this past Wednesday. The hospitals’ board of directors approved the executive committee appointment at Wednesday’s board meeting.

“We are proud to announce the Board of Director’s approval of Mike Caruso as the president and chief executive officer of Ohio Valley Health Services & Education Corporation,” said Thomas. “Mike’s unwavering loyalty and dedication to our hospital organization as well as his unfaltering leadership throughout his tenure at OVHS&E has made him an ideal fit for the role.

“Our executive team as well as the organizations’ medical staffs and employees have voiced their overwhelming support for Mike as he takes on this role and we could not be more pleased with his efforts as we begin a new chapter in our organization’s history.”

Caruso was selected by the Board’s executive committee earlier this week to replace George Couch, who resigned Friday evening.
