Ohio Valley Mall renovation shifting to high gear

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The multi-million dollar renovation of Ohio Valley Mall is about to begin in earnest.

Last week, B&B Contractors and Developers of Youngstown was named as the general contractor for the project. B&B is in the process of finalizing agreements with a variety of subcontractors, whom it is anticipated will hire much of their workforce from Ohio Valley region, according to officials from the Cafaro Company – owners and operators of the Ohio Valley Mall.

Major demolition will commence on or about April 30, officials said. This phase of the project, along with extensive interior reconstruction, will last through a seven-month period, culminating in a grand reopening event in early November.

Virtually all the work will take place in the overnight hours, after the mall has closed for the day. This will allow all Ohio Valley Mall merchants to remain open during regular business hours and serve their customers without interruption.

Also last week, officials with the Cafaro Company unveiled a new local for the Ohio Valley Mall, “symbolizing the dawn of a new era for this important retail destination,” they said.

The Ohio Valley Mall has been serving the residents of Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania since 1978. The total complex comprises nearly 1.2 million square feet, offering more than 100 choices for shopping, dining and entertainment.
