Computer Tech celebrating 10 years in business

SHADYSIDE – Computer Tech is celebrating its 10th anniversary July 15. David M. Gazdik II started his operation at age 19 after hearing of the commercial opportunity.

“I’ve always enjoyed computers,” he said, noting he had an amateur background in the field and earned a degree in Computer Science at Belmont College.

Gazdik recollected the initial challenge in establishing himself and his business.

“Especially when I started at such a young age. People were leery of coming in,” he said.

He offers computer repair and refurbishment of systems. He services customers from the surrounding area as far as Bellaire and Moundsville and beyond. Gazdik noted he enjoys steady customers and repeat business.

He said customer service and high standards at a reasonable price are the hallmark of his enterprise.

“I try to stay reasonable and do quality work,” he said.

“Our biggest thing is virus removal. That’s the biggest demand we have,” he said.

“I’ve always got to stay current on the new technology and keep certification up to date.”

He focuses primarily on PC issues but works with some Mac systems.

He said business has changed somewhat since he first opened his doors.

“Since we started, it seems like there’s less and less hardware-related problems we work on,” he said, noting viruses, software conflicts.

During the past 10 years, he has moved his operation to a building he purchased on West 40th Street.

“I want to keep building the business and expand again,” he said.
