Softite Community FCU lends a hand

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – For the second year in a row, the employees of Softite Community Federal Credit Union dedicated the month of October to Breast Cancer Awareness by collecting donations for Barnesville Hospital Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.

Mary Sells, Head Teller at the St. Clairsville Branch stated that the members were very generous in their donations for Breast Cancer Awareness. A check for $1000 was presented to Karen Maholic and Peggy Skinner. Both stated that they were very grateful to the credit unions members’ and staff for their enthusiasm and big-heartedness.

Pam Fankhouser stated that “staff had fun in the process of supporting the Breast Cancer Awareness cause.”

Fankhouser said that the chocolate cookies with pink chips that were baked fresh in the lobby and served with chocolate and strawberry milk added to the cause. Members really appreciated the fact that the credit union felt strongly about the cause. Staff wore pink t-shirts and donned pink bracelets every Friday during the awareness campaign.

Karen Maholic, Imaging Operations Manager at Barnesville Hospital said that this generous donation helps fill the void in the area.

She stated that state funded money often runs out too soon and donations like this help the uninsured and under-insured get the tests they need.
