New fashion, food for the mall

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – While the excitement of the opening of Boscov’s Department Store builds, the Ohio Valley Mall recently announced the addition of two new stores that will be opening around the same time.

Boscov’s is slated to open in October, as is children’s clothing store The Children’s Place.

A trusted children’s apparel retailer, the Children’s Place will be located next to King’s Jewelry store.

Currently, the closest Children’s Place locale is at the Tanger Outlets near Washington, Pa.

It will be the company’s first foray in the Ohio Valley Market, although the Caffaro Company, which oversees the mall, has dealings with The Children’s Place at its other commercial locations.

“They do business at other malls of ours and we have a great relationship with them,” said Candi Noble-Greathouse, marketing director for the Ohio Valley Mall.

“We are very excited. It will be a wonderful store with more, great options for children’s clothes.

“It will be open for the holiday shopping season and, hopefully, by the end of October.”

The Children’s Place is the largest pure-play children’s specialty apparel retailer in North America. The company designs, contracts to manufacture and sells fashionable, high-quality merchandise at value prices, primarily under the proprietary “The Children’s Place” brand name.

The other addition is on the outside of the mall and will occupy the space that currently houses Quiznos and is next to Starbucks.

The Panda restaurant will feature menu offerings inspired by Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese and other Pacific Rim cultures.

The restaurant will be 1,500 square feet and located next to Starbucks’ drive-thru.

Panda is slated to start serving its customers only a few weeks after Boscov’s and The Children’s Place open.

These moves, along with the recent opening of MC Sports have come on the heels of the recent major renovations that took place at the mall within the last year to upgrade the facility.
