Ferry native named new president, ceo of Lifespace Communities
DES MOINES – Lifespace Communities, operator of senior living communities in seven states, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sloan Bentley as its new president and CEO. She succeeds the retiring Scott Harrison.
“Scott has been a tremendous leader, and we are confident that Lifespace will continue to grow and thrive with Sloan’s succession,” says Robert C. Kehm, chairman of the Lifespace board of directors. “Since Scott announced his intention to retire early last year, Sloan emerged as a proven leader in senior living and one of the most accomplished professionals in the industry. We see her skills and experience, combined with her personality and drive, propelling the continued success of the organization.”
Under Harrison’s leadership, Lifespace became a self-managed organization, moving from nine separate continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) to an enterprise of 12. He helped build a new corporate structure, refine strategic plans, and led Lifespace to become the seventh largest nonprofit senior living provider system in the country, as recognized by the LeadingAge Ziegler Top 100.

A 29-year veteran in senior living and health care, Bentley previously served in top-level leadership positions with ABHOW (American Baptist Homes of the West). Most recently, she served as president of Seniority, Inc., a wholly owned ABHOW subsidiary providing management, sales and marketing services to senior living organizations nationwide. Bentley is a gerontologist, recognized thought leader, speaker and author.
