Wee Bit Worn offering affordable children’s clothing

BELLAIRE – A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Monday, May 19 at Wee Bit Worn, a new consignment store for children’s clothing located at 318 34th Street in Bellaire, across from the City Park.

Members of the Bellaire Chamber of Commerce and local business representatives were there to welcome Tracy Finney, owner of Wee Bit Worn.

“Welcome to Bellaire,” said Chamber of Commerce President LuAnn Bennett. “We really appreciate you choosing to place your business here.”

Finney resides in Neffs. She previously worked as a home daycare provider, and said she wanted to open a children’s clothing consignment store because of the high costs for new clothes. Finney is well-acquainted with those costs herself, as she has a three-year old granddaughter.

“Kids’ clothes are extremely expensive, for short wearing time,” she said.

Wee Bit Worn offers a variety of clothing for children from ages newborn to six years. There are also toys and some baby items like strollers and swings for sale. Kinney also sells handsewn scrunchie-style headbands made from repurposed clothing, and does diaper cakes (arrangements of rolled diapers stacked to look like multi-layered cakes) as decorations for events.

Finney learned of the available location at 318 34th Street after seeing a post on Facebook. She said the location was exactly what she was looking for, calling it “perfect.” Finney is running the shop with some help from her husband Jeff and mother Carol Marthaler. Her brother also gave some assistance, building shelves for Wee Bit Worn from repurposed wood.

Patrons of Wee Bit Worn can take advantage of a trade-out policy. Filling up a tote with clothes for the shop results in $40 store credit or $20 cash.

Wee Bit Worn is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Finney will be participating in Bellaire’s Sidewalk Sales on June 7.
