Just You honors customers with special brunch

MARTINS FERRY – Once again, Just You in Martins Ferry will honor its customers with a special “Breast Brunch” buffet and style show. The event will take place beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 in the Hall of Champions at the White Palace, Wheeling Park.

Special guest speaker is Heidi Floyd, a breast cancer survivor, who will share her encouraging story. In addition to Floyd, Dr. Rosemarie Hardin, a breast surgeon specialist at Wheeling Hospital, will once again be in attendance.

Stacy Gilson, executive senior sales director for Mary Kay Cosmetics, will be on hand to show cancer patients make up tips. In addition, Gilson is donating two $50 gift certificates for Mary Kay products, for which a drawing will take place at the brunch.

Representatives from Amoena, ABC and True Life will have tables set up at the event. Guests will also have the opportunity to create their own bead bracelets using a variety of beads and materials that will be on hand.

Debbie Weeks, Just You staff member, LPN and certified mastectomy fitter, said models are needed for the style show. She’s looking for volunteers from the ladies who are Just You customers. Clothes for the style show will be provided by CJ Banks and Christopher and Banks. In addition to models, volunteers are also needed to help out with other small tasks related to the event. Anyone interested in volunteering should call Weeks as soon as possible at 633-2944.

Any Just You customer who RSVPs for the brunch at the store or by phone prior to Sept. 5 will also have her name entered into a drawing to win an outfit from CJ Banks. The winner will receive her outfit the day of the event, have her make up done professionally by Gilson, and will model her outfit at the brunch. The drawing for the outfit winner will be held on Sept. 5. Anyone who RSVPs after that date can still attend the brunch but will not have the chance to win the outfit.

Typically when someone thinks of breast cancer, the color pink comes to mind. Weeks pointed out that each cancer has a specific color awareness ribbon associated with it, but purple is the color for cancer survivors. “When you go to a Relay for Life event, everybody wears purple, like all cancer survivors are united in one color,” she explained. “So this year, we’d like to recognize the survivors and toss in some purple with the pink.” She said this will be reflected in the decorations, and encourages attendees to also wear some purple items to represent survivorship.

Just You is a medical supply facility geared towards female cancer patients. Owner Jane Wine, a Registered Nurse and family nurse practitioner, has watched the business grow quickly over the past 26 years. Available products include wigs, hats, scarves, bras, bathing suits and cover ups, prosthetics and enhancers for mastectomy and lumpectomy patients, drain management camis and compression vests. In addition, Just You also offers special deodorants and cooling gels for radiation patients, a skin care line, oral care for chemo patients and special tank tops for patients with medi-ports. New at Just You is a maternity and nursing department that offers specialty bras and breast pumps.

Dwight Wine, COO of Just You, said the company is currently working on some rebranding and expanding beyond mastectomy care. Just You for Women will not be limited to any specific age group, and will offer a line of expanded products, a new logo and a new informational website, justyouforwomen.com, which will be up and running within the next week or two.

“We want to expand the business’s presence so it’s not localized, but will reach out to a larger geographical area,” Wine explained. “We don’t just want to be a seller of merchandise. We also want to provide information. The focus will still be strictly women.”

Weeks added that Just You already offers more than mastectomy care with its maternity and nursing line, but in addition, they also help women with bra fittings or by assisting young girls who are struggling with developmental issues. Wine noted that the rebranding effort is ongoing and he expects most of it to roll out by the end of the month.

Just You is located at 1103 S. Zane Highway in Martins Ferry.
