FSA announces hay & pasture acreage reporting date change for 2017, future years

BARNESVILLE — The Belmont/Monroe Farm Service Agency County Executive Director Christy Collins announced a change to the acreage reporting deadline for Ohio’s perennial forage crop.

The perennial forage (hay and pasture) crop must be reported by Nov. 15 for crop year 2017 and subsequent years, which is a major change from the previous July 15 deadline.

In order to comply with FSA program eligibility requirements, all producers are encouraged to file an accurate perennial forage crop certification report by the Nov. 15 deadline.

Because of this unexpected change in deadlines, the Belmont/ Monroe FSA Office is doing acreage reports by appointment only.

This is because files are not prepared and the office will prepare folders according to appointment date.

If a producer is unable to schedule an appointment by the deadline, their name can be entered on a register.

This allows the producer to file a report after the deadline without paying late-file fees.

For questions regarding crop certification and crop loss reports, call the FSA office at 740-425-2300, option 2.

People who have to call long distance from the 740 area code may use the toll-free number 800-818-7645, option 2.

The Belmont/Monroe County FSA office is at 1119 E Main St, Suite 1, Barnesville.
