Local architecture studio celebrates 20 years
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — A local architecture firm is celebrating 20 years of serving the Ohio Valley this month.
Previously known as Hays Landscape Construction and Hays Landscape Architecture Studio Ltd., the business is now a part of the WallacePancher Group with offices that remain in St. Clairsville.
Gabe Hays founded the business in 1997 in his childhood home, located adjacent to the firm’s first significant project, Fox Commerce Park. the studio has since worked with Oglebay and Wheeling parks and many other groups and organizations throughout the region. Some highlights of the firm’s history include:
∫ In 2001, Hays became an initial board member for the Clean Ohio Fund, District 18 Natural Resource Assistance Council; he now chairs that board.
∫ In 2002, he became a board member of the National Road Alliance.
∫ In 2004, the company designed final phase of Wheeling Heritage Port for The Wheeling National Heritage Area Corp.
∫ In 2008, the firm began serving as landscape architect for Seven Springs Resort.
∫ In 2010, the firm designed and constructed Ohio State University’s Remembrance Park.
∫ In 2010, the St. Clair Commons Master Plan was designed.
∫ In 2012, the firm led a volunteer effort to design and build a new playground for St. Clairsville Elementary School.
∫ In 2013, Hays became a founder of the Smith-Goshen Rice Enrichment Fund for Belmont County.
∫ In 2015, the firm was selected to design the site of the Health Plan corporate headquarters in Wheeling.
∫ In 2016, Hays Landscape Architecture Studio Ltd. became a part of WallacePancher Group and began work with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
To mark 20 years in business, the studio hosted an art exhibit, “2+1, the work of Karl & Pat Jacobson + Clare McDonald,” and live music by Shane Pasqualla, as well as a public gallery opening for the exhibit. For more information about the firm, call 740-310-1195.
