Relay fundraiser planned
YORKVILLE – The Buckeye Relay for Life is gearing up for the annual relay to be held June 4 and 5th at War Memorial Stadium, Yorkville.
The team will be holding a number of fundraising events in connection with the relay.
A craft show will be held at Buckeye Local High School on Saturday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Refreshments will be available and various prizes awarded. Deadline to reserve a table is March 1. On Saturday March 20, the first annual 5K Race for a Cure – Walk or Run will be held in Yorkville. This will be a fun day for the participants and all those attending to root their favorate runners/ walkers on. Refreshments will be available as well as various fund raising activites including theme baskets for a Chinese raffle.
Each participant will be given a bag of goodies and the first 50 people to register will receive a t-shirt. All activities will begin at Buckeye South Elementary School, 209 Market St., Yorkville.
A Longaberger Basket Bingo will be held on Sunday April 18 at Buckeye Local High School from 1 to 3 p.m. with doors opening at noon. This is a memorial event in memory of Kelly Smith, former Buckeye Local Treasurer, who died at a young age of cancer. Admission tickets are $25 and entitles the person to play 16 games and includes sandwich and drink. There will be two early bird games and additional packs of cards available to purchase at the event. All of the baskets have been donated for the event by Mr. and Mrs. Martin McKim, Kelly’s parents.

Relay Auction will be held at Buckeye North Middle School beginning at 6:30 p.m. on May 19. We are currently accepting donations of auction items. Brad Cain from Cain Realty will be our auctioneer. Last year the auction took place at the Relay and was a hugh success, but this year it will be a separate event.
