Smucker to appear at Step Into Stories

In honor of National Library Week, Step into Stories, the new family series at the Ohio County Public Library will welcome West Virginia Author Anna Smucker on Saturday April 19.

A Weirton native, Smucker is the author of several children’s books including: No Star Nights, Outside the Window, A History of West Virginia, To Keep the South Manitou Light, and her new book, titled Golden Delicious: A Cinderella Apple Story.

Her main focus has been on books for children and most of her stories are set in West Virginia. At 11 am and 2 pm, Smucker will read aloud from her new book, Golden Delicious: A Cinderella Apple Story, and will explain how she and the illustrator worked together to create the book.

With the help of the children in attendance, Mrs. Smucker will show how all the golden delicious apples in the world are descended from one West Virginia tree. Step Into Stories programs are free and open to the public. For more information call 304-232-0244 or visit
