Bruno honored for serving community

Catherine Bruno, daughter of Mike and Anne Bruno, granddaughter of Jim and Frances Bruno of St. Clairsville, was recently honored for her community volunteer work when she received the Prudential Spirit of Community Award. The award program represents the United States’ largest youth recognition program based solely on volunteer service. All public and private middle level and high schools in the country, as well as Girl Scout Councils, county 4-H organizations, American Red Cross chapters, YMCAs and Handson Network affiliates were eligible to select a student or member for a local Prudential Spirit of Community Award.

Catherine was selected as a local Prudential Spirit of Community Award at her high school, Nordonia High School, in Macedonia, Ohio. The local honorees were then reviewed by an independent judging panel, which selected State Honorees and Distinguished Finalists. Catherine was named a Distinguished Finalist and her award was presented recently at her senior awards ceremony along with the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

Catherine will continue her education at Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana in the fall.

Her sister, Michaela, was awarded the Presidential Citizenship award, Class of 2016 at Nordonia High School and the Outstanding Student Certificate, High O’Brien Youth Leadership Award.
