St. Clairsville High School Alumni Association awards scholarships

THE ST. CLAIRSVILLE High School Alumni Association recently awarded Scholarships to the following graduating seniors:

The Buzz Lewis Scholarship was awarded to Gabrielle Espen. “Buzz” was a 1975 graduate of St. Clairsville High School. He was tragically killed in an Industrial accident while working a summer job in 1978. His family established this scholarship in his memory. Gabrielle plans to attend the University of Toledo and major in athletic training.

The David Porterfield Scholarship was awarded to Evan Elliott. This scholarship is based on personality, leadership, initiative, school citizenship and community service. Evan plans to attend The Ohio State University and major in electrical engineering.

The Nancy Kozsuch Scholarship was awarded to Summer Stephens. This scholarship is based on an interest in the teaching profession. Summer plans to attend Muskingum University and major in elementary education.

The St. Clairsville Alumni Scholarships were awarded to four students. These scholarships are based on scholarship, leadership, community services, and financial needs.

Recipients were:

Alexa Clark – Alexa plans to attend Lake Erie College and major in equine studies with a therapeutic horsemanship concentration.

Marissa Rizzo – Marissa plans to attend The Ohio State University and major in Biology and pre-med.

Brianna Sowers – Brianna plans to attend Case Western University and major in Biochemistry.

Alex Timko – Alex plans to attend Ohio University and major in Mechanical Engineering.

The Thornley Hunt Scholarship was awarded to Summer Gallentine and Alexander Trouten. This scholarship is based on highest math grade for one boy and one girl.

There were no applications for the Charles Kettlewell Scholarship. This scholarship is based on someone entering the Field of Law.

There were no applications for the Elizabeth Craft Scholarship.
