Adena Lions give Education Aid awards

Recently, the Adena Lion Club awarded its Annual Education Aid Awards to two Buckeye Local seniors.

Michaela Bailey, daughter of Shenna and Tim McCormick, was ranked 14th out of a class of 144 and is a member of the National Honor Society. She was also a member of the Buckeye Local Marching Band, a delegate to Buckeye Girl’s State and is a Junior Member of the American Legion. She will attend Belmont College to study writing and hopes to write children’s books and fictional stories. Bailey would also like to earn an education degree and teach writing courses to college students.

Faith Barkhurst, daughter of Julie and Ed Barkhurst, ranked 27th in her class. She was secretary of the student council, a member of the National Honor Society, a delegate to Buckeye Girl’s State, and a member of the Buckeye Local School Band. Barkhurst will attend West Liberty University where she will study to become a clinical psychologist.
