LANSING — The Bridgeport Area Chamber of Commerce is preparing for another Business After Hours event this month, and guests will have the chance to have a taste of wine while attending.

This month’s event will be held at the Vino di Piccin Winery and Tasting House located on 55155 National Rd., in Lansing, and co-owner Steve Piccin hopes to draw a crowd to the venue. Piccin and his seven siblings own the small business, which has been open as a winery since 2011; the tasting house portion opened its doors in 2014. Piccin said all of the wine served at the bar is made at the winery, ensuring that money spent there goes back to a local business. The facility has tables inside and outside, as well as a fire pit, making it a good place to relax with some friends and sip some wine by the fire. A popular item is the wine slushies served through the summer months — wine that has been partially frozen for a cold, refreshing treat. Piccin said the slushies will only be available for a few more weeks, before the winery switches to hot mulled wine for its winter drink. Piccin said that although it’s hard to predict attendance for an event like this, he believes the chamber will bring in a good crowd for the after-hours event.

“We’ve had several Bridgeport functions here before, and they’ve always turned out good,” Piccin said.

Ann Gallagher, executive director of the Bridgeport Area Chamber of Commerce, said she’s also hoping for a good crowd for the event. She said the chamber chose the winery since it was a popular location in the area. The tasting house will be open just for the chamber from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 25. Gallagher said the event will include hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar; there is a cost per person. She welcomes everyone to attend, as the proceeds from the event will directly benefit the chamber. The night gives local business owners a chance to get together and network, while relaxing and enjoying a night out.

“It should be nice,” Gallagher said. “I hope everyone comes out and has a good time.”
