Lions to hold annual cantata
ADENA — The Adena Lions Club will be presenting its annual Christmas cantata with two performances on Sunday.
There will be a 2 p.m. presentation at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church in Adena and a 7 p.m. presentation at the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church.
The program this year is titled, “Mary, did you know?” which was created by David Guthrie and Bruce Greer. Admission to the cantata is free, and there is open seating. An offering will be collected with all of the collection going to the Adena and Dillonvale food pantries.
A cookies and punch time of fellowship will follow the 7 p.m. cantata.
“Our cantata is a wonderful way to slow down the mad rush of the Christmas season. In the midst of shopping, baking, decorating, and preparing Christmas cards, our presentation allows the audience to put those things aside and to focus on the life-changing gift that was given to us that first Christmas. God gave us Jesus that first Christmas, and we will be celebrating Christ and asking people if they have personally experienced that gift,” Cantata director Dustin Kinsey said.

The Adena Lions Club Christmas Cantata is a 60-minute musical presentation that aims to capture the beauty and wonder of the Christmas message and season. It has been performed at various churches since its inception in 1986.
The Adena Lions Club meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at their Club Room in the Adena Community Building. Lions Clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
