St. C. BOE approves personnel matters

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The St. Clairsville-Richland City School District Board of Education approved several personnel matters during its recent regular meeting.

The board approved supplemental contracts for Tom Sliva as head varsity baseball coach and for Natalie Perzanowski as varsity track assistant coach. James Yevincy has his pupil activity contract as head tennis coach approved, as well.

Brittany Gallagher and Alexander Trouten were approved as certified substitutes, while Michael Jones and Michelle Smith were approved as classified substitutes. All hirings are for the current school year.

Mark Bonar (high school), Ben Frye (high school), Cassi Hynes (middle school), Gene Mozena (elementary) and Jeff Vass (elementary) were named to Dean of Student positions, effective Aug. 1.

One-year limited contracts were approved for Bonar (high school match) and Kim Clifford (high school English).

Andrea Schafer’s application for Child Rearing Leave was approved.

In other matters, the board approved both the 2018-19 school calendar and preschool handbook, as presented, as well as March’s trip to Nassau for the chamber choir, Sweet Harmony and St. C Singers.

In his remarks to the board, Superintendent Walt Skaggs reported a $5,000 grant was received from the Smith Goshen Rice Enrichment Fund for the purchase of Chromebooks. Also, a new Chromebook cart was purchased.

Also, he informed the board door locks (keyless entry) and cameras have been installed, thanks to a grant from Lowe’s. Eleven cameras are to be installed on buses, as well.

The board accepted the following donations during January: The Red Devils Club (athletic department, swim and volleyball teams, $1,900); Your Cause (high school principal account, $20); Life Touch (middle school principal account, $1,386); American Legion Post 159 (middle/high school band, $350); St. Clairsville Area Chamber of Commerce (middle/high school band, $250); Maggie and Chet Truchan, high school/MH Cafe, $71); Home & School (general fund/Clorox 360 machine, $1,000).

The next meeting is scheduled for March 14.
