Bellaire police looking for leads in ‘odd’ break-ins
BELLAIRE — Acting Police Chief Richard “Dick” Flanagan is hoping Bellaire residents will have information regarding a set of break-ins he describes as “odd” in nature.
Since about mid-January there have been a total of 14 break-ins at homes between the 4300-4500 blocks of Noble Street and Jefferson Avenue. Not much has been taken from the locations, but in each case the suspect left a mess inside — upsetting furniture, dumping drawers and emptying the contents of refrigerators onto floors.
“They ransacked the places. … Nothing of real value was taken; a couple pairs of tennis shoes, $2 in change, but $600 in change left behind,” Flanagan said.
He noted the break-ins all occurred during daylight hours, early to late afternoon; some entries were forced, while others were not.
Flanagan said one of the residents impacted who owns two houses is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible.
Those who have any information regarding the break-ins are asked to call the Bellaire Police Department at 740-676-3322. Flanagan said, to date, the department has no leads or video surveillance to go on.
