Culvert replacements slated in Monroe County
LEWISVILLE — A culvert replacement project in Monroe County will begin next Wednesday on Ohio 78.
The project will take place between Township Road 55 and Township Road 61. A 10-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place in this area.
“It shouldn’t affect the area in any way as far as traffic going through,” Ashley Rittenhouse, Ohio Department of Transportation public information officer, said. “Truckers, in particular, should watch how they go through the area, though, since there is a width restriction.”
The estimated end date for the project is Aug. 1. This is part of a $1.9 million project that involves multiple culvert replacements in Monroe and Washington counties.
There are 18 locations in total with 12 in Monroe and six in Washington County.
Other recent culvert replacements for Monroe County include a road closure on Ohio145 that started June 11 and will last until June 25. The project is taking place between Township Road 2056 and Ohio 800.
ODOT’s suggested detour is using Ohio 800 and Ohio 78 to get around the closure.
A culvert replacement for Ohio 26, which also includes a road closure, started May 21 and will not be finished until Aug. 1.
The project is taking place between Jericho Low Gap Road and Township Road 825. By using Ohio 260 and Ohio 537, drivers can get around the closure, according to ODOT.
