Charles Zelek, senior economist with the Department of Energy Office of Fossil Energy speaks to members of the Ohio Valley Oil and Gas Association during their annual meeting Thursday at Belmont College. He was joined by Congressman Bill Johnson, R-Ohio. Zelek’s talk focused on the potential changes that an ethane cracker plant could bring to the area, and about the ongoing progress of research, development and regulations at the national level. He mentioned the potential usefulness of an ethane storage facility, but said any such installation would be contingent on the presence of a cracker plant.
