St. Clairsville High School to graduate the Class of 2019

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Class of 2019 will graduate from St. Clairsville High School at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Ohio University Eastern.

Valedictorian Kyle Storer is the son of Patrick and Carriann Storer. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Stay Clean Club, and Spanish Club. Storer served as a student representative for the Ohio Valley Stem Cooperative and was elected class president his Junior year. He attended Buckeye Boys State this past summer and participated in the TEAMS Stem Competition for three years. Storer played baseball and football all four years of high school and also played lead guitar for the St. C Singers. He received athletic honors such as Special Mention All-State Linebacker and two-time Baseball MVP. He also spent time volunteering at Wheeling Hospital and helping to coach the junior high football team. Storer was a member of the 2018 Homecoming court and plans to attend the University of Toledo where he will major in Mechanical Engineering.

Co-valedictorian Sophie Rose Kopyar is the daughter of Tony and Tammy Ellis-Kopyar of Bridgeport, Ohio. Sophie will be graduating with a 4.0 grade point average, has been on the Principal’s List all 4 years of high school, and has attended the University of Akron through the College Credit Plus Program. She has been active within her school and community through the National Honors Society, Student Action Committee, Drug Free Club, Girl Scouts, and more. She has taken part in Track, Volleyball, French Club, and Culture Club. Sophie has volunteered over 200 hours to her church, St. Anthony of Padua (Bridgeport, Ohio), the iBelieve foundation, and St. Clairsville High School. She has received several scholarships to attend Duquesne University in the fall to study Premedical Biochemistry in hopes of becoming a doctor.

Salutatorian Katelynne Davenport is the daughter of Jason and Francine Davenport. She is president of the Student Council, a two-year member of the National Honor Society, and a captain of the St. Clairsville Swim Team. Davenport is not only a four-year letterman of the sport, but she also obtained three school records, one of which was her 100 yard breaststroke event. Over the years, Davenport was a four-year member of the Student Action Committee and the Spanish Club, and she challenged herself in academics by utilizing the College Credit Plus program. She has received several scholarships, and she will be graduating with an honors diploma. Davenport will attend the University of Cincinnati to pursue biomedical engineering in the fall.

Co-salutatorian Brandon Coss is the son of Lacy Williamson and Grandson of Russell and Lorrie Coss. Brandon is a three year member of the track and cross country teams, earning a varsity letter in both. Brandon has also been a member of the drug-free club, Spanish club, dodgeball club, indoor track team, and ping pong club. Academically, Brandon has taken numerous College Credit Plus courses through the University of Akron, excelling in each course. Brandon is an active member at Thoburn United Methodist Church, he volunteers at the local food pantry, as well as Change the World, Vacation Bible School and other activities through Thoburn. Brandon will graduate St. Clairsville with honors and then attend The Ohio State University on the Land Grant Scholarship where he intends to pursue a law degree.
