Bellaire man jailed after chase
A BELLAIRE man is in the Belmont County Jail after a Friday night chase that involved two states.
According to reports, Eduardo M. Williams Jr. ran a stop sign at the intersection of South Wabash and Delaware streets shortly after 8 p.m. Wheeling police attempted to pull Williams’ green Mitsubishi over when he drove into Gumby’s parking lot on South Wabash Street, but he exited the parking lot, making a left onto Zane Street and heading across the bridge into Bridgeport.
Williams then proceeded down Ohio 7 with Wheeling police and Belmont County authorities in pursuit.
Belmont County Sheriff Fred Thompson reported that Williams pulled into his home near 43rd and Franklin streets and headed towards Bellaire Community Hospital. He was subsequently arrested without incident and taken to jail.
If Williams waives extradition, he faces charges of stop sign violation, fleeing and eluding and driving on a suspended license.
CHARGES were also filed against several individuals in an incident early Saturday morning that occured in downtown Bridgeport.
Although reports are still being filled out, a Bridgeport officer did say that a stolen truck caused an accident at the intersection of Marion Street and Main Street. The driver was pulled over by Martins Ferry police on the bridge leading to Wheeling Island.
