Price retains Monroe seat

WOODSFIELD — Monroe County Commissioner Timothy R. Price will return to his office after defeating a challenger with a very similar name Tuesday.

The incumbent Democrat Timothy R. Price captured 2,993 votes, while Independent candidate Timothy D. Price netted 1,775, unofficial totals indicate.

Timothy R. Price is completing his first term in office. He also has been county sheriff for four years and has another 24 years in local law enforcement.

“I am already familiar with (the) county governmental processes, budget restrictions, day-to-day operations of the county commission and issues currently being addressed by the commission,” he said.

He said his background gave him an edge, as he is able to “work closely with other county office holders; a willingness and desire to listen to both sides of a given issue and then make equitable decisions based on the facts at hand.”

He said he would continue working with other elected officials in updating and upgrading existing computer systems, particularly with the recorder’s office as it pertains to oil and gas drilling.
