Authorities seeking Bellaire robbery suspect
BELLAIRE – The Rich Oil gas station, located at 3880 Noble St. in Bellaire, was robbed around 9:25 a.m. Wednesday.
According to police reports, the clerk stated that a young white male came in and went behind the counter, demanding money from the cash register.
The clerk described the suspect to be about 5 ft. 10, wearing a brown Carhart type coat with a hood, a blue hoodie underneath with the draw string pulled tight covering the suspect’s face, dark pants or jeans and had on sunglasses.
The suspect also produced a folding type knife with a blue handle. Surveillance video shows the suspect approached the store from the northside from the back of the Dairy Queen drive- thru and exited the store heading north to the same area. The suspect was walking.
“We are looking in a couple different directions,” said Bellaire Police Chief Mike Kovalyk. “We have received a few tips. We are confident that the good people of Bellaire will forward us any information; they have come through for us in the past.”
The store has not determined the total amount of cash taken, but believes it may not be more than $200.
The Bellaire Police Department was assisted by Bridgeport Police in searching the area and the path taken to and from the area. There were no injuries.
According to Kovalyk, the police department has checked out a few people and received a few names, and at this point are not ruling anything out.
