Bond set at $50K in Buckeye Local case

STEUBENVILLE – The initial bond amount was set at $50,000 during a brief court appearance Tuesday afternoon for the 64-year-old man who was arrested after allegedly making threatening statements concerning how easy it would be to convey a gun into an elementary school in the Buckeye Local School District.

Brilliant resident Dale G. Dollison allegedly made the statements to other adults while outside Buckeye North Elementary School. He is expected to enter an initial plea during a second court appearance in his case today.

This will be the first time Dollison will be appearing before the judge in whose jurisdiction the alleged offense happened. Judge David Scarpone’s county court is based in Dillonvale.

During his initial appearance in court Tuesday, Dollison came before Jefferson County Court Judge Joseph Corobi.

Judge Corobi explained to Dollison that the felony level of the allegation was the central issue in the unusual way his initial appearance and plea entry had to be handled.

The courtroom was virtually empty of private citizens at the time of the arraignment Tuesday, despite it being a standing schedule and known to the general public, according to Jefferson County Justice Center personnel.

The man arrested and charged with the second degree felony charge of inducing panic was not carrying any weapon on his person at the time of his arrest last week while outside Buckeye North Elementary School in Brilliant, according to the police report filed by Wells Township Police.

According to the report filed by Capt. Sean C. Norman of the Wells Township Police Department, which is headquartered just a short distance from Buckeye North Elementary School in Brilliant, he had been advised by Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff Scott Polen, the assigned resource officer for the school district, a possible threat had been made by a parent at the elementary school in Brilliant.

At the same time, Susie Nolan, building principal, called the office and reported the situation.
