Rape suspect is arraigned
BELLAIRE A Belmont County man, charged with four counts of rape of a minor, was arraigned on $1 million bond Wednesday in front of Judge Frank Fregiato in Northern Division Court.
Justin M. Archer, 25, of Martins Ferry, was arrested by Bridgeport Police earlier this week after the young girl’s parents reported the alleged rape on March 11 to authorities.
Originally, police picked up Archer on a outstanding warrant for a traffic violation.
The girl’s parents originally turned evidence over on March 13.
Archer posted bond on the traffic issues, but was later picked up again, this time on a warrant for the rape charges.
Officers believed they had enough evidence to charge Archer and turned their findings over to Belmont County Prosecutor Chris Berhalter’s office, who agreed and filed the four charges of rape of a minor, a first-degree felony.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 3 in Northern Division Court.
IN?ANOTHER Northern?Division Court case Wednesday, a Bridgeport man was arraigned by video on drug-related charges.
Brant Tomolonis was arrested over the weekend and charged with possession of drugs and obstructing justice.
Tomolonis pleaded not guilty.
His bond was set at $50,000 and he was remanded into the custody of the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office.
A preliminary hearing was set for April 10.
