A 24-year-old Yorkville native is the victim of a homicide being investigated by the Norfolk, Va. Police Department in connection with a reported shooting early Saturday evening in a residential neighborhood, located not far from the Norfolk Naval Station.
The alleged shooter is a 22-year-old Wisconsin native and Norfolk resident, Austin T. Greening.
Greening has been held in the Norfolk City Jail since his arrest in connection with the shooting Saturday evening.
He remains in custody without bond.
Authorities have identified the victim as Kris Klubert.
Police were called to the Norfolk residence of Greening via a 911 call at about 7 p.m. Saturday on a report that a man had been shot.
Greening is scheduled for an initial arraignment in court today.
In addition to a murder charge, he is facing a charge in connection with the use of a firearm.
According to police reports, the victim was “pronounced dead at the scene.”
Norfolk Police officials confirmed late Sunday they could not comment on any details of the alleged incident as it is policy not to discuss matters in connection with any ongoing investigation.
