Graduation date will not change
WOODSFIELD – The Switzerland of Ohio Local School District Board of Education voted Thursday night not to move the date of River High School graduation date. The intital idea for moving graduation was due to the Division III district track meet also scheduled that day.
After a parent called the school board asking the date be moved from Friday, May 24, to Saturday, May 25, the board agreed to change it if majority of the River High School seniors signed a petition stating that they wanted the date changed.
Only 17 students wanted the date changed, and 39 students did not.
“The board really considered this,” said Janelle Comstock, Switzerland of Ohio Local School District board member.
Monroe Central High School’s graduation will be Saturday, May 25, and Beallsville High School’s graduation is planned Sunday, May 26.
