Judge Sargus hands down sentences

ST. CLAIRSVILLE Several sentences were handed down and pleas heard during Monday’s session of Belmont County Common Pleas Court. Judge Jennifer L. Sargus presided.

A nthony Wayne Albus, 26, 200 West 30th St., Shadyside, was sentenced on a count of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, a felony of the fifth degree occurring Feb. 13, 2011. He was given a 12-month suspended sentence and three years of community based controls. He will complete a sex offender program.

Defense counsel asked Sargus to consider Albus’ lack of criminal history and the results of the pre-sentencing investigation which showed the offense to be an isolated incident happening within a 24-hour period.

Joseph N. Phillips, 50, 4278 Franklin St., Bellaire, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree. He was sentenced to 12 months, backdated to Dec. 1 to be served concurrently with a sentence he is currently serving in West Virginia.

Christopher Allen Rock, 23, 72523 Droskey Road, St. Clairsville, saw his termination from drug court and was given a suspended one-year sentence and five years of community controls. A restitution plan will be established. He was convicted of breaking and entering, a felony of the fifth degree occurring Oct. 16, 2011.

Raymond Lewis Sulek, 70, 46827 East Almar Circle, St. Clairsville, pleaded guilty to a fourth OVI offense in six years, a felony of the fourth degree with a vehicle forfeiture occurring Nov. 14, 2012. Sentence was set for April 29. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered.

Eduardo Martin Williams, Jr., 38, 4432 Franklin Street, Bellaire, was sentenced on one count failure to comply with a police officer, a felony of the third degree occurring Oct. 12, 2012. He was given a suspended two-year sentence and will serve six months in jail, six months EOCC.

Teresa Luisa Wise, 36, 412 Woodland Court, Woodsfield, was terminated from drug court and given a five-year probationary sentence post dated to Nov. 8, 2010, with credit for 208 days. She was originally convicted of one count deception to obtain a dangerous drug, a felony of the fourth degree occurring July 27, 2010.

Lawrence Freeman, 47, 1515 Miller Avenue, Marion, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence, a felony of the third degree with an automobile forfeiture. Sentence was set for April 29. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered.

Roderick Lee Jones, 19, 119 Third St., Bridgeport
