Martins Ferry students pitch in

MARTINS FERRY – Students at the high school will lend a hand during the upcoming Martins Ferry Pitch In day. Students from the Step Up program will be helping to clean up the city. They have also donated bike racks and garbage cans.

Belmont County Student Services and River Schools Initiative sponsor the Step Up program, which is in its fourth year of existence. During the past five years, students from Martins Ferry High School have participated in activities such as Step Up against Cancer, campaigns against texting and driving, bullying prevention, volunteering at soup kitchens and summer hospitals, book bingo, book reading and crafts at the elementary school, and work at Habitat for Humanity.

There are currently 30 members of the Step Up program, many participating for all three years.

The Pitch In day is set for June 15.
