SHADYSIDE – The weather is getting warmer and that means it will soon be time to don the swim trunks and bathing suits and hit the local swimming holes.
Melanie Haswell, the manager at the Shadyside pool is looking for the first week of June as the targeted opening date for the village’s municipal pool.
Summer pool passes are again on sale and can be purchased at the mayor’s office. They are $55 for individuals and $90 for families.
Daily admission is $3 for students and $4 for adults.
Haswell noted the pool will be open daily from noon until 6 p.m. Sundays, a moonlight swim will be held from 8-10 p.m. and is sponsored by the pool. The cost for admission will be $3.
The pool is available for parties at $125 plus $20 an hour for lifeguards.
“We’re also selling sponsorship signs for around the pool which is a great way to show off your business to the people who come to the pool every day,” Haswell said.
Anyone who has already purchased a sign can have it placed back up along the fence for $45. New signs can also be purchased.
The Step-Up club in Shadyside has been able to obtain funding to donate benches, chairs, shower curtains and paint for the pool.
PPG is again supplying the chemicals to the facility, free of charge.
“We can’t thank PPG enough for helping us out with the chemicals,” Haswell said, noting the savings on not having to buy chemicals enables to pool to remain open every summer.
Another fundraiser for the pool that is taking place is a quilt raffle.
The quilt was crafted and donated by Phama Gartner.
Haswell noted tickets are three for $2 and an arm’s length for $5.
