Woman dies in Pick’s fire

AN EARLY morning fire at a Belmont County establishment turned fatal today.

Pick’s Place, located on U.S. 40 east of Morristown, was a total loss after a blaze started around 6 a.m. The fire was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene.

An elderly woman, reportedly Pick’s owner, died in the blaze. She lived in an apartment in the back of the business.

Firefighters from Morristown, Bethesda, Cumberland Trail, Lafferty and Belmont responded. The blaze is believed to have started in the kitchen of either Pick’s or the apartment.
