Bellaire woman pleads guilty to obstruction
ST. CLAIRSVILLE – Barbara Ann Tittle, 39, 325 21st St., Bellaire, appeared before Judge Jennifer L. Sargus in common pleas court Tuesday and pleaded guilty to an amended charge of obstruction of a public official on official business, a felony of the fifth degree.
Sentencing was set for Aug. 5. A pre-sentence investigation and victim impact statement were ordered. Tittle faces a maximum of 12 months.
Assistant Prosecutor Scott Lloyd noted that the primary perpetrator, Jared Luke Tittle, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for rape of a child. He said that doubts remain about Barbara’s mental state and the time and the extent of her knowledge of the crime.
“She made a choice to reside with Jared Tittle, who in my opinion is a monster. I’m sure her life there had to be one that I can’t even imagine, and I’m sure some of the decisions she made she made out of fear, and I’ve given some consideration to that,” he said, adding that the child is now safe and a resolution would bring closure to all.
He added that certain evidence was tampered with or removed from a computer. This led to the modified charge.
“I believe it suits the crime and what she has done,” he said.
