Belmont County nears DJFS director selection
ST. CLAIRSVILLE – During Wednesday’s Belmont County Commissioners’ meeting, Commissioner Ginny Favede noted the county is close to having a new Department of Job and Family Services director, with three impressive interviews recently conducted. The final interviews will be held Monday. The hiring announcement is projected for a week to 10 days.
Commissioners will begin interviewing prospective Senior Services coordinators.
The meeting began after a short delay and two extensive executive sessions. Favede apologized on behalf of the board to the guests in attendance and noted the abundance of county business. Commissioner Charles R. Probst, Jr. added that accommodation had to be made for the people invited into the sessions.
Richard Hord inquired into an earlier presentation made by Gerry Battistelli, oil and gas leasing agent, where he claimed a surplus in last quarter’s projection of senior services.
Probst said the statement did not originate with the commissioners. He suggested speaking to Battistelli or the auditor’s office.
Hord also suggested an update could be provided on the accomplishments, transition process, and projected future of senior services. Commissioner Matt Coffland said he had no objection to such a report.
In other matters, Favede was authorized to execute the Express Scripts, Inc. Pharmacy Agreement effective June 1, 2013 through Dec. 31, 2016.
Commissioners motioned to approve and sign a Subordination of Mortgage request in the amount of $79,900 regarding property owned by Christopher and Shana Anderson, 127 Grace Ave., Barnesville, based upon the recommendation of Rick Healy, Housing Rehab Specialist, Belomar Regional Council.
Commissioners motioned to accept a proposal from Rural King in the amount of $10,999.99 for one Husqvarna zero-turn mower, 34 HP, for the Belmont County Buildings and Grounds Department.
Commissioners motioned to approve and authorize Favede to execute a change order for $3,174.97 for Jarvis, Downing & Emch, Inc., for the installation of new drywall on all exterior walls for the renovation of the common pleas courtroom. The courtroom walls were renovated in the early 1970s.
