Commissioners map development

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – Belmont County Commissioners discussed several development projects and heard feedback and suggestions from the public during Wednesday’s meeting.

Pease Township Trustee Michael Bianconi suggested holding a presentation to inform the public of the state of senior services. Guests also thanked commissioners for providing an expense report for senior services and asked if a more thorough breakdown of expenses could be provided, as well as the amount of people served at each site and the number of people who attend on a daily basis.

In other matters, guests inquired about progress on the Belmont County Industrial Park.

Commissioner Matt Coffland noted that a waterline to the site has been completed and ADR will install a sewer line in the near future. Some possible tenants have shown an interest in that property.

Commissioners held a subdivision hearing for Havenwood Second Addition, Union Township B and motioned to grant the final plat. The area includes 14 lots with a private roadway. Approval has been secured from the health department and 911.

Commissioners motioned to accept the resignation of Shayla Robinson, buildings and grounds employee, effective July 26.

Commissioners motioned to approve a 50 cent per hour salary adjustment effective May 17 for Brian Ware, who has obtained his Class II water distribution operator license.

Commissioners motioned to enter into contract with Perram Electric, Inc., on behalf of the Belmont County Engineer, in the amount of $118,494.18 for the BEL-Mall/ Banfield signal improvement project.

Commissioners motioned to enter into an auction sale contract with David Jones, auctioneer, to conduct the annual Belmont County Auction to be held Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. at the fairgrounds. Professional fees include 15 percent for personal property and seven percent for vehicles. The county will pay for all advertising. The auctioneer will place all ads. There is no charge for the pictures and web site.

The commissioners will re-convene today to review two contracts.
