Ferry utility clerk resigns

MARTINS FERRY Mayor Paul Riethmiller confirmed that an employee in the utility office handed in her resignation as of Friday for personal reasons.

“We are handling this the same way that we handle any resignation,” he said, adding that the post of utility clerk is available. “That new job has already been posted. As of (Monday) it was posted for any of our union employees that want to bid into that job.”

Riethmiller could not confirm any connection to an ongoing investigation by the state as to the possibility of embezzlement in the utility office. The investigation is ongoing.
