Ohio 149 accident claims driver

BETHESDA – A 24-year-old Belmont County man has died as the result of a one-vehicle accident early Saturday morning.

According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, Justin Hunt, of Bethesda, was driving a 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck southbound on Ohio 149 (Belmont-Morristown Road) just south of Barkcamp State Park at approximately 7:44 a.m. Saturday when he went off the left side of the road.

The report said the vehicle initially went through a ditch and a wooden fence before striking a tree. A section of the wooden fence went through the windshield, hitting the driver.

Hunt, according to the report, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Belmont County Coroner.

A passenger, 24-year-old Austin McGary, of St. Clairsville, refused treatment at the scene, according to reports.

The report said alcohol use is suspected in the crash, but toxicology results weren’t available.
