Harrison Hills closes out 2013

CADIZ – The Harrison Hills City School Board of Education met last week to close out 2013 with a brief meeting.

In matters of personnel, supplemental coaches were approved for the 2013-14 school year including William Walker as freshman boys basketball coach and Judy May for OVLA math, grades seven through 12. Ashley Jacobsen and Donna Pendleton were confirmed as educational aide for the pre-kindergarten level and Angie Johnson as educational aide, both at Harrison North Elementary.

Christopher Dyer was approved as a substitute teacher and Audra Sall as substitute aide.

Jarrett Fuchs and Andrew Corder were approved as volunteers at Harrison East Elementary.

In matters of business and operation, board approved the first reading of revised and updated policies. Board also approved the appointment of Bonnie Cowens to the Puskarich Public Library board Jan. 1, 2014-Dec. 31, 2020.

Board also approved the new substitute classified wage increase effective Jan. 1. All classified positions except bus drivers will be $7.95 and bus drivers are $12.10. The change is required due to Ohio’s minimum wage changes from $7.85 to $7.95 effective the first of the year. Bus drivers are an additional $4.15 per hour.

In matters of students, board accepted applications for 11 interdistrict and intradistrict students and approved their attendance under the district’s open enrollment program for the 2013-14 school year.

The next organizational meeting will be held Jan. 14 at 7 p.m., with a budget hearing to take place 6:45 p.m.
