Switzerland of Ohio gets Straight A grant
WOODSFIELD – The Switzerland of Ohio Local Board of Education recently held its final meeting of the year.
The board announced it has received the Straight A Fund Grant, only 24 were awarded state-wide. This will go hand in hand with the technology grant that Tess Hill earlier this year. The Straight A Fund Grant will allow students to take more courses through video conferencing and allow for the student to interact with the teacher.
Jason Cutter gave an update on the school building projects. According to Cutter, most of the items left are on the punch list and will be checked over Christmas Break. Students will move into River Elementary after Christmas break as well. Classes will resume on Jan. 6.
The school board and teacher’s union came to a negiotation agreement about contracts. The teachers will receive more information after the first of the year.
The board approved in the treasurer’s report which included the invoices for the Ohio Valley Athletic Fields, Inc. (River) for $1,2000 and Climatech Inc. (Beallsville Campus) for $4,417.38.
The board also approved the following:
- Approval of the resolution authorizing community use for areas of the Skyvue facility.
- Approval of the resolution authorizing community use for areas of the Powhatan facility.
- Approval of the resolution authorizing community use for areas of the River facility.
