Rape suspect arraigned
ST. CLAIRSVILLE Arraignments were held Thursday in Belmont County Common Pleas Court, with Judge Frank Fregiato presiding.
Kimber Alen Runyan, 39, 907 Broadway St., Martins Ferry, pleaded not guilty to one count of rape, a felony of the first degree, and one count gross sexual imposition of a child younger than 13, a felony of the third degree, both occurring July 21, 2012.
A status conference was set for Jan. 31, with plea agreement Feb. 28 and trial March 4. He was put on personal recognizance. He faces a maximum of 36 months in the second count, and a maximum of life without parole for 15 years, or life without the possibility of parole, in the first count. He would be designated a Tier 3 offender.
Vance Mark Taft, 22, 638 North Third St., Dennison, pleaded not guilty to two counts aggravated vehicular assault, a felony of the third degree occurring Oct. 17, 2013. Status conference is Feb. 14, with plea agreement Feb. 28 and trial March 6. His recognizance bond was continued. He faces 36 months for each count and a class three license suspension of two-10 years.
Randy Michael Brinker, 57, 56847 High Ridge Road, Bellaire, pleaded not guilty to one count of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a felony of the third degree, and one count ethnic intimidation, a felony of the fifth degree, both occurring Dec. 5, 2013. He faces a maximum sentence of four years. Pre-trial was set for Feb. 3, with plea agreement March 3 and trial March 20.
Michael Scott Lucas, 32, 73350 Northwest Flushing Road, Flushing, pleaded not guilty to one count possession of drugs, a felony of the third degree occurring Aug. 21, 2013. Pre-trial was set for Feb. 3, with plea agreement April 14 and trial April 24. Bond of $5,000 was continued.
