Senior services, O.V. Mall team up for educational days
ST.?CLAIRSVILLE — Senior Services of Belmont County and the Ohio Valley Mall will be joining forces to promote educational days for the seniors of Belmont County.
The first Tuesday of every month, the Ohio Valley Mall will host the seniors of the county in the mall’s Community Room. Seniors Services of Belmont County will use this day to provide educational seminars on various topics effecting their consumers.
Barb Ballint, program administrator, noted, “We are looking at having various presenters to offer seminars that our educational in some way. This could include health education, information on insurance, housing, recreation, and even entertainment! Our goal is to provide our seniors an opportunity to learn and gather information on topics that affect them in their daily lives.”
The first Education Day will be held Tuesday, Feb. 4, starting at 10 a.m. David Hacker, program coordinator explained, “Our first session will include Carol Baker, QI Planning Specialist, and Laurel DuBeck, Community Education Coordinator, with Area Agency on Aging Region 9. Carol and Laurel will be providing our seniors with an overview of what services are available in Belmont County and specifically the supports that AAA9 offers to our seniors.”
March will follow with Belmont County Tourism.
Doc Householder’s topic will be “Touring Belmont County.” After the seminar, the seniors will be able to enjoy the afternoon at the mall.
Seniors Services of Belmont County are also working with the vendors at the Ohio Valley Mall to offer various incentive or discounts on this day to seniors attending the education seminar.
